Schoology is a learning management system (LMS) designed primarily for K-12 education. It serves as a centralized hub for teachers, students, and families, connecting them through a platform for personalized teaching and learning. Schoology allows teachers to organize curriculum, create lesson plans, and provide assessments, while also facilitating communication and collaboration.

How Staff Use Schoology

Teachers use Schoology to build courses or classes and manage materials, such as reading and/or writing assignments, presentations, and videos. Assignments may have specific due dates and instructions, and might be set up as classwork, homework, quizzes, tests, or assessments. These assignments can be graded, which can be seen by the students and families alike. Schoology may also be used for forum-style discussion boards.

How Students Use Schoology

Students use Schoology to complete some assignments for their courses as well as receive announcements, course updates, and grades for their work. Schoology helps students stay organized with managing upcoming due dates, deadlines, and assignments. Teachers can post materials for courseowork or homework, and students can complete or upload their work or answer questions directly in Schoology. Students also view Grades for their work, see feedback comments, and track missing or incomplete assignments. Schoology may also be used for forum-style discussion boards.

At Nantucket Public Schools, Schoology use starts at the Nantucket Intermediate School (Grades 3-5) with a minor role and a more significant role when students move to Cyrus Peirce Middle School (Grades 6-8) and Nantucket High School (Grades 9-12).

Not all teachers utilize Schoology the same, and this may be noticed acutely by families and students.

How Families Use Schoology

Parents & Guardians of Nantucket Public Schools Students Grades 3-5 have access to Schoology. Generally, the primary contact associated with a student is given the account automatically, but other parents or guardians can request access to their child's information in Schoology. Parent access to their students is automatic, and parents will be able to toggle between student profiles to see different courses that their multiple children may be in; parents do not need multiple accounts for their multiple enrolled children.

Parents can choose to get email or app notifications for new assignments, due dates, and deadlines associated with their children's courses. Parents can also generally track their child's grades on coursework and homework.

Not all teachers utilize Schoology the same, and this may be noticed acutely by families and students.

How to See Your Student in Schoology

Sign into your Schoology account.

Enter your Username.
Enter your Password.
Type Nantucket Public Schools into the School or 02554 ir Postal Code field.
Click the blue Login button.

If you do not know your Schoology Username or Password, please submit a GetHelp ticket.

Change from Parent to Student View

Once logged into Schoology, your name will be visible in the upper right-hand corner.
Click on your name and your student's name will appear.

When you select the student whose activity and assignments you would like to view, a list will appear.
